A hundred years before “The Artist” made its run for the Oscar history, the American Film Co. arrived in Santa Barbara and produced nearly 1,000 films in what the industry considered Hollywood North. Come find out more about this influential studio, known as The Flying A and join us for a tour of the exhibit with guest curator Dana Driskel.
“The Flying A: Silent Film in Santa Barbara” at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum displays materials from the studio and screens a selection of original Flying A silent films. The show marks the centennial of Flying A’s arrival in Santa Barbara in July of 1912. Its a rare glimpse into a exciting time in Santa Barbara history and creativity.
