Sunday evening, December 4th, in the spirit of giving, a small hardy band of AIGA members helped Hospice of Santa Barbara by setting up for their annual Light Up a Life ceremony in front of the Lobero Theater. A community event hosted by Catherine Remak of K-Lite, opening remarks by Steve Jacobsen, Hospice of Santa Barbara, Executive Director and guest speaker Mayor, Helene Schneider. Guests were treated to the beautiful choral music of the Santa Barbara Madrigal Singers. It was a touching way to begin the holiday season. Families and friends gathered to honor a lost loved one by hanging a star in their memory on the tree. For many, it was the first holiday season, without that special person. The ceremony brought their lost loved ones memory to light, touching all who attended and demonstrating the importance of Hospice in our communities and homes.
Since 1972, Hospice of Santa Barbara has provided compassionate care to the dying and bereaved in the Santa Barbara community. This caring organization has touched the hearts of many in times of great difficulty and in doing so, inspired AIGA Santa Barbara to assist in their annual holiday event.
