Lunch with a Visionary: Mark Oliver

UPDATE: Check out photos from this event on the AIGA SB Facebook page!

As part of 2014’s year-long “AIGA 100” centennial celebration, AIGA SB is continuing to foster opportunities for designers at all career levels to learn from and inspire one another, to keep advancing design as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force.

Are you a mid-career professional seeking wisdom and keen to stay inspired? A student or emerging designer looking to gain an industry foothold? This event is for you! Get a chance to rub shoulders with with one of the region's most established creative talents on a variety of topics:

• Find your audience and refine your range of work: Oliver has collaborated with Fortune 100 firms such as Diageo, General Mills, and PepsiCo, and has also focused on startups and mid-size firms in the natural foods industry, such as Kashi and Back To Nature.

• Go beyond good design and tap into the emotional connection consumers have with brands: Oliver’s award-winning work pioneered the use of emotion-generating visual cues in packaging design, and has continued to be recognized nationally and internationally by major design organizations and industry publications.

• Balance work with contributing to your community: in addition to his thirty-year-plus design career, Oliver has contributed to the Santa Barbara community by working with more than 20 local non-profits. He is co-founder of the Santa Barbara Film Festival, President of the Santa Ynez Valley Alliance and a member of the Board of Trustees of Brooks Institute.

Don’t miss this opportunity for a fun Fall road trip and illuminating conversation in a very special setting! Because of the unique nature of this event, attendance is limited to 10 people, and attendees must be 21 or older. Car pools can be organized if needed.
