…or do you want to make your design freelancing business boom? Read on! There are a ton of opportunities at the CIE, including a job posting for a Design Coordinator.

Charmaine Farber here, President of AIGA Central Coast, and Director of Experience Strategy at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). I want to take a moment to write about this awesome resource that we have in our Central Coast community. The CIE supports freelancers, start-ups, small businesses, innovators — students and non-students alike — with a locations in downtown San Luis Obispo as well as on the Cal Poly campus. The Small Business Development Center is housed in the Hot House building downtown (872 Higuera St, San Luis Obispo), and helps individuals start, manage and grow a business and offers a ton of business services. Are you a freelance designer? They have consultants to help you! You can get on their client list to be one of their recommended designers for local businesses. The SBDC has amazing events — great speakers (like person that started Kinko’s) and workshops (like learning Quickbooks) for the public that are inspiring and grounding. There are really lovely co-working spaces and a business Accelerator and Incubator to boot!

And, the thing is, the CIE really values design AND is hiring a Design Coordinator. Please check this out and pass it on. The Hot House has been an in-kind sponsor of AIGA CC and I’m really excited about this position! Please apply online at: https://www.calpolycorporationjobs.org/postings/1390

You can also just stop by the Hot House at 872 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo to find out more about the co-working spaces and other opportunities.
