The Small Business Development Center is housed in the Hot House building downtown (872 Higuera St, San Luis Obispo), and helps individuals start, manage and grow a business and offers a ton of business services. Are you a freelance designer? They have consultants to help you! You can get on their client list to be one of their recommended designers for local businesses. The SBDC has amazing events — great speakers (like person that started Kinko’s) and workshops (like learning Quickbooks) for the public that are inspiring and grounding. There are really lovely co-working spaces and a business Accelerator and Incubator to boot!

And, the thing is, the CIE really values design AND is hiring a Design Coordinator. Please check this out and pass it on. The Hot House has been an in-kind sponsor of AIGA CC and I’m really excited about this position! Please apply online at:

You can also just stop by the Hot House at 872 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo to find out more about the co-working spaces and other opportunities.
